DAME GREASE
Dame Grease is a Harlem-born producer, artist and hip-hop architect whose production helped shape the sound of late-1990s New York rap. His catalog includes work with DMX, The LOX, Nas, Mase, N.O.R.E., Fat Joe, Scarface, Max B and many others. His importance to DMX’s breakthrough is especially significant: Dame Grease produced the majority of DMX’s landmark 1998 debut, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, including records such as “Get at Me Dog,” “Stop Being Greedy,” “Damien” and “Let Me Fly.”
That album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and ultimately sold more than 4 million copies, while DMX’s second 1998 album, Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood, went triple-platinum. Dame Grease also contributed production to that second project. While it would be inaccurate to credit Grease personally with every DMX album sale, the album on which he was the principal producer became a multi-platinum cornerstone of DMX’s career.
The Misty TV Firm Corporation, which works with Dame Grease across public relations, branding and marketing, strengthening the presentation of a producer whose influence stretches across generations of hip-hop.
